32 Weeks! 8 To Go!

Your pregnancy: 32 weeks
See the big picture
How your baby's growing:By now, your baby weighs 3.75 pounds (pick up a large jicama) and is about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space in your uterus. You're gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to your baby. In fact, she'll gain a third to half of her birth weight during the next 7 weeks as she fattens up for survival outside the womb. She now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). Her skin is becoming soft and smooth as she plumps up in preparation for birth.See what your baby looks like this week. (Or see what fraternal twins look like in the womb this week.)

Christmas in Nebraska!

We gathered at Mom's for the day. Our pictures are taken in their new addition, which is finallly done! It looks awesome! Enjoy!

31 Week update!

Here's what's going on this week! 9 weeks left!

Your pregnancy: 31 weeks
See the big picture
How your baby's growing:This week, your baby measures over 16 inches long. He weighs about 3.3 pounds (try carrying four navel oranges) and is heading into a growth spurt. He can turn his head from side to side, and his arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath his skin. He's probably moving a lot, too, so you may have trouble sleeping because your baby's kicks and somersaults keep you up. Take comfort: All this moving is a sign that your baby is active and healthy.See what your baby looks like this week.

10 Weeks to go!

This week our poor little "nameless" baby boy weighs approx. 3 pounds and is about 15 inches long! No wonder I can feel and see the kicks and movements all over my belly! It's awesome! Getting pretty excited! I have my first shower this weekend in Minnesota hosted by Jon's sister, who we are staying with. His parents and another sister will also be there with her husband so we are really looking forward to seeing his family and all who attend the shower on Saturday. I'm especially excited to see our nephew Thomas as he's getting older now and hopefully will let us play with him although I'm sure he may not remember us right away...It's been awhile since we've been up that way. Year maybe?

Anyways the house is really coming along! Jon has all cabinets in but one. So that means my new deep sink is in and my dishwasher! We found our biggest cabinet 3ft by 3ft to be defective so unfortunately we have to wait for a new one there....That will be my pantry so I really look forward to getting that up! Love having the dishwasher although I didn't realize it ran so long! ANd how expensive dishwasher detergent can be...

So over Christmas break I hope to help Jon finish painting the rest of the house and get new carpet so we can finally set up the baby room!!!! We'll be coming home from Minnesota with a truckload of baby stuff that Jon's sister has graciously offered so we are so thankful for that! Can't wait to see all the "goods."

Until next time, have a blessed holiday season!

29 week update! 11 to go!

Things are moving along for us in all areas! Jon has the kitchen painted, the floor is down and now he is installing cabinets. It looks sooooooooo great! I love it! We also painted the main bathroom this weekend and I love it! Other than that, I have one friend who is having a baby today so I'm very excited for her. We don't know the sex yet so it's very exciting! I'm feeling great still....Trying to workout atleast every other day for 40 minutes or so. I'll post pics soon!

Your pregnancy: 29 weeks

How your baby's growing:Your baby now weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (like a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and his head is growing bigger to make room for his developing brain. To meet his increasing nutritional demands, you'll need plenty of protein, vitamins C, folic acid, and iron. And because his bones are soaking up lots of calcium, be sure to drink your milk (or find another good source of calcium, such as cheese, yogurt, or enriched orange juice). This trimester, about 250 milligrams of calcium are deposited in your baby's hardening skeleton each day.See what your baby looks like this week.

28 weeks, The Final Trimester!

Hello to all! Hope you had a wonderful thanksgiving! We got our first ice/snow this weekend so that was exciting! Especially since we were working hard on the house. Jon officially gutted the kitchen, (the cabinets were original to the house 1972!) NO wonder they were falling apart! So now he's about done with the floor. It's a wood laminate flooring that we extended into the dining area so that will be great! less to vacuum. Then he'll be working on painting the kitchen and putting in the new cabinets, sink and dishwasher! I can't wait! everything from our kitchen is now in our living room! So that's what we did all weekend. We also painted the baby room "sky blue" and now have all white doors throughout the house instead of the dark brown wood doors that are probably orginal to the house as well. We still have to paint the rest of the house, guest bathroom and our bedroom and then put in new carpet. Baby room is painted, but still needs cleaned out to make room for the baby furniture. Jon's sister is giving us her crib, bassinet and changing table so we are so blessed for that. We'll be heading up to Minnesota Dec 20 to have a shower with the Eagen's and to get that stuff. Once the baby room's done I'll send pictures! Enjoy the update of our little guy. He sure does move ALOT! Like someone else we all know so well!

Update on Baby...

How your baby's growing:By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels. She can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes. With her eyesight developing, she may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. She's also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.See what your baby looks like this week. 27 week pics! 89 days to go!

This week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with her legs extended. She's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if she were born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother her, so just relax and enjoy the tickle!

Well I can definitely say this little guy moves ALOT! I've had a few people tell me that's one thing they really miss after birth is the feeling them inside you. Luckily I haven't had any really forceful movements yet, and anytime he's kicking Jon is anxious to feel it, too.

On other notes, we are looking forward to starting the kitchen remodel as the cabinets are being delivered Monday 11-24. Unfortunately we won't be spending Thanksgiving with any family (my mom is in Germany and the only close relative here), but we'll be together and Jon wants to fry a turkey so I think I'll mash some taters and make a broccoli cheese casserole or green bean casserole.

Friday we'll head to Lincoln for the Huskers last home game vs Colorado. God I hope we don't get killed!

So it's this time of year I love being a teacher! I teach Monday and Tuesday and have meetings Wednesday. Then off for 4 days. Then only 3 weeks of school and it's Christmas Break! Yippee!!

26 Weeks! 14 to go!

Here's what they say is happening this past week...

The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. He may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner's as you chat with each other. He's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when he's born and takes that first gulp of air. And he's continuing to put on baby fat. He now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches (an English hothouse cucumber) from head to heel. If you're having a boy, his testicles are beginning to descend into his scrotum — a trip that will take two to three days.

So he officially has his testes! How nice :)

Getting ready to start the last trimester! Wow time is really flying now! Our kitchen cabinets are due in this week, which is perfect so we can start tearing out the old kitchen over Thanksgiving since we have no major plans other than attending the Huskers last home game this season! Jon has now changed all doors in the house to white doors with white trim! Exciting! I already feel as if I'm living in a newer house! Just wondering why we didn't make such improvements year ago...Next up after kitchen, painting, and new carpet, and then we are done for awhile! Of course we'll have baby then to occupy our time!

Love to all! More pics to come soon as everyone says my belly is really growing now!

My pregnancy @ 25 weeks...105 Days to go!

Just an update....Went to Doc Monday and gained 9 lbs again this past month. Not sure why I'm stuck on the number 9, but trying not to focus on that as much as I am trying to eat healthy, get plenty of rest, and exercise when I'm up for it. Next appt in 4 more weeks...

In the meantime, we're waiting on kitchen cabinets to arrive and then Jon will begin the remodel, adding a dishwasher (finally), new sink, countertops, etc. I can't wait! Everything but the counters and walls will be white. Don't know what colors yet to paint the walls throughout the house, but that is also our goal before baby....and new carpet! Lots to do in 105 days! I'm up for the challenge of helping where I can...No painting, though!

Here's the weekly update from babycenter.com.

How your baby's growing: Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. Her weight — a pound and a half — isn't much more than an average rutabaga, but she's beginning to exchange her long, lean look for some baby fat. As she does, her wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and she'll start to look more and more like a newborn. She's also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture.

112 Days to Go!

Your pregnancy: 24 weeks
See the big picture
How your baby's growing:Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.See what your baby looks like this week. (Or see what fraternal twins look like in the womb this week.)

My baby actually weighed 1.3 lbs on October 22nd. He constantly moves, so it is pretty comforting to know he must be having a ball in there! We are desperately trying to pick a name....We atleast know we can always fall back on Jonathan Michael Eagen Junior!

How your baby's growing:
At 11 inches ([ http://www.babycenter.com/slideshow-baby-size ]the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.

Our other babies update! The "canine" kind!

This Saturday Kilo and Jet had a playdate with Bigsby a black lab puppy. Our friend Casey and Micaela brought Bigsby over to play and watch football of course! Kilo and Bigsby became instant friends! They never left each other alone for a minute. Even when we'd separate the two for awhile, Bigsby in the garage with his daddy and Kilo in with me, Kilo would not lay down. He paced and whimpered because he just knew Bigsby was still at the house! It was truly love at first sight. Below are some pics.....Jet on the other hand was a bear and growled at Bigsby if he even looked at Jet, which is why he is not in any pictures.... Not sure what's up with that, but I believe with our baby he'll be the greatest protector. We've had friends baby's over before and Jet would not leave the side of the stroller or where ever the baby was so I'm interested to see that. Kilo may know no difference....He's definitely in his own world!

On a baby note, we find out the sex on Wednesday 10-22! Can't wait! I'll be certain to update the blog when I find out.

More tailgating pics! I'm on a roll!

This is from 17 weeks. I'll take new pics soon, since I'll be at 21 weeks on Friday! Jon says he's about 17 weeks along....:)

Your pregnancy: 20 weeks

How your baby's growing:Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. He's also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby's legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of his head to his bottom — the "crown to rump" measurement. After 20 weeks, he's measured from head to toe.)He's swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He's also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you'll see it in his first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).See what your baby looks like this week. (Or see what fraternal twins look like in the womb this week.)Note: Every baby develops a little differently — even in the womb. Our information is designed to give you a general idea of your baby's development.
How your life's changing:Congratulations! You've hit the halfway mark in your pregnancy. The top of your uterus is about level with your belly button, and you've likely gained around 10 pounds.

Monthly checkup!

Well I saw the Doc Monday morning. I was initially in a state of shock as the scale said I gained 9lbs in just the last month....I guess it's reality! I'm working out and eating pretty okay, but I guess it is just bound to happen for the next few months! Other than that the baby's heartbeat was down to 130 beats per minute. Last time it was 150....Normal is anywhere between 120-160. We could also hear the movements, which was pretty cool!

Everything else checked out fine. We set up our ultrasound for Oct 22 to find out what we all really want to know!!! Unfortunately that was the soonest we could do it as Jon is leaving for a work trip for 10 days on Tuesday. So by then we'll be good and ready to get the room done!

Meanwhile, Jon has been doing a great job painting the trim in baby room, our room and the office. He's painting the dark wood, white and putting up new white blinds so it looks very nice! He is so handy! Still can't upload a new pic of us.....

19 weeks!

Below I've copied my weekly update from baby center. Jon and I both got to feel the little tot move this am. I woke up bright and early at 7am on Saturday morning and as I lay on my back for a bit contemplating if I was going to actually get up or try to fall back asleep I decided to use my fingertips to gently press down right below my belly button. And as I held my fingers in place for a minute I could obviously feel my heartbeat, and every so often and extra bump on my fingers. It was awesome! So of course when Jon woke up he placed his hand there and got to feel the baby move once. It was funny because it's almost like it scares you to feel it and I could definitely tell that's how it felt to Jon because he jerked his hand away very fast and was excited! I don't believe I'm feeling the movement yet spontaneously throughout the day, but I'm sure I will soon! Heading to Lincoln for a long day of Husker tailgating and watching football! Enjoy your weekend, everyone!

How your baby's growing:Your baby's sensory development is exploding! Her brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that she may be able to hear your voice now, so don't be shy about reading aloud, talking to her, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size of a large heirloom tomato. Her arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of her body now. Her kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on her scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.See what your baby looks like this week.

Jon's input...

When I told him about the blogspot I'd created he checked it out and his first response was, "There's no picture of me!" And I have good reason for that. I created it at school where I only had the one picture of me, mom and my brother from my 30th bday. Not a great pic anyways, so now that i'm at home I can try to put a pic of Jon up so he feels more included. Poor guy :) If you don't know already, our computer connection is very spotty and it is sometimes very hard and VERY frustrating to put pics up. I'll do my best to get one up very soon!

Welcome to our blog!

Upon my mother's wishes, I've created a blogspot to keep all family and friends updated on our pregnancy news and progress. And of course, when the little tot arrives in February, we'll keep you updated on him/her.....

For now I go to the Doctor September 29th for a regular, monthly checkup. Nothing new is going on except for this weekend I got my first nose bleed on Saturday. I got them pretty frequently as a kid and heard that it is somewhat common in pregnancy as your body is creating and pumping much more blood through your system. So we started up the humidifier and I think it is already working, just having the extra moisture in the air. So far I've been nosebleed free since we turned it on in our room at night. Thank goodness!

On the 29th we'll set an appt to go see an ultrasound technician and find out the sex of our little one the first week in October hopefully. I'll be in week 20 then---HALFWAY THROUGH! Yippee!

As soon as we find out the sex I'll start painting the room and we'll put new carpet throughout, as it is badly needed! Then we'll gradually get all the things we'll need for this new life that will bless us!

This weekend was so relaxing because we really had NO plans. Jon worked of course each night at 4. But on Saturday we worked on putting new blinds up in the baby room and our bedroom and I went shopping for more maternity clothes. I found 2 jeans and 3 tops and 2 more work pants so I am pretty set for pants for work for now (that is unless my gluteus maximus decides to become more maximus). I'm hoping most of my weight just goes to my belly from here out! is that wishful thinking?

Then on Sunday I finished our wedding album 4 and 1/2 years later! The power was out at home for 12 hours so what else could I do, right? I'm so pleased to have it done I hope you all get to see it when you visit us next!

That's it for now! I've enjoyed my first blog! I hope you have a little as well!
